Our history

The history of the River Residence is closely interwoven with the spa town of Baden. What began in 1835 as an outbuilding of the historic "Limmathof" has developed over almost two centuries into a place for individual freedom and modern retreat. Discover the journey of a house that has retained its character and today offers contemporary independence in Baden's best location.

    Impressions from 1835 to the present day

    • 1835

      The origin: construction of the building as a barn for the neighboring "Limmathof". A functional building that laid the foundation for today's address on the Promenade.

    • Late 19th century

      The house grows: as the Bäderquartier flourishes, the building gains in importance and is extended by one storey - the first step towards a prestigious residential building.

    • 1992

      Vision on the waterfront: Extensive conversion into the "Résidence am Wasser" by architect and owner Peter Schuchter. The house becomes a place for upscale living.

    • 2015

      Gentle renewal: An internal facelift by the Schuchter family brings fresh accents to the premises while preserving the established atmosphere.

    • 2018

      The birth of the River Residence: a milestone in history: the rebranding as the "River Residence" is accompanied by a complete refurbishment. New kitchens and bathrooms set a high standard for modern design.

    • 2019

      Culinary delights move in: opening of the "Dory & Du" restaurant in the former Quellensaal. A new meeting place for connoisseurs right in the hotel.

    • 2020

      The new entrance: As part of the redevelopment of the Limmat promenade, the River Residence is getting its striking new entrance area, the perfect link to the riverside promenade.

    • 2021

      Autonomy & comfort: Completion of the concept with the installation of the Cardio-Gym and the new Service Point for an independent, "hassle-free" living experience.

    • 2026

      New owners: Takeover by new owners with strong regional roots.
